While Lionel Messi Donates €1 Million to Israel, Cristiano Ronaldo Donated €1.5 Million to Palestinian Children in Gaza

As revealed earlier on Whatsupic, the captain of the Argentina squad, Lionel Messi, has made the last few days an estimated amount of €1 Million donation to the Israel equal to the premium Argentine players in case of qualification in the final of the World Cup. Real Madrid iconic forward Cristiano Ronaldo has remained in the hearts of Gaza people since November 2012, when the star forward donated €1.5 million to Palestinian children in Gaza, as reported then by the Arabic version of the club's Classico network.

While we would like to give the boot to the human powers that be for the shameless, negligent and deplorable stance towards Gaza, CR7 gave his 2011 Golden Boot to the Real Madrid foundation. The Spanish giants in their turn sold it at an auction and donated the funds to schools in Gaza. It is likely that a few of those schools may have been levelled by Israel's indiscriminate bombing with children buried beneath. A big time Gaza champion, Ronaldo in 2011 sold most of his sports shoes at a Real Madrid Foundation auction dedicated also to raising funds for schools in Gaza.

Palestinian supporters believe Portuguese superstar publicly endorsed their cause by refusing to swap shirts with Israeli players during 2014 World Cup qualifier in Tel Aviv.

After the match Ronaldo walked straight off the pitch rather than exchange his shirt for an opposition player’s, a ritual which is common in international football. He appeared to chat briefly to one Israeli player, before walking away.

During his time at Manchester United, Ronaldo was spotted sporting the keffiyeh, an item of headgear which rose in prominence in the Arab world in the 1960s with the beginning of the Palestinian resistance movement and its adoption by Palestinian politician Yasser Arafat.

Cristiano's charity life is not limited to the Palestine. The Haircut Cristiano Ronaldo sported during Portugal's 2-2 draw with USA was supposedly a tribute to a boy whose £50,000 brain surgery he paid for.

Erik Ortiz Cruz, a 10-month old Real fan, has cortical dysplasia – a brain abnormality that causes up to 30 seizures each day.

The Cruz family have been desperately trying to raise money for his treatment, but because of the huge funds needed, it’s been tricky.

The nipper needs £60,000 for an operation on his brain, while each test, which he will need for a long time after the operation, costs about £6,000 each.

But according to a so-far unconfirmed story on Twitter, Ronaldo's haircut wasn't his latest fashion statement, but actually a gesture to Erik Ortiz Cruz who captured Ronaldo's heart.

Ronaldo is yet to comment on his haircut and the above tweet is the only source that suggests it was a tribute. Erik underwent his successful surgery in March.
